(1887 - 1944) American general and son of the president, served with distinction in World Wars I & II, died leading his men ashore at Utah Beach and awarded the Medal of Honor. ROOSEVELT QUOTES LINCOLN Fine content T.L.S. on Assistant Secretary's office letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington, Dec. 30, 1922, thanking the recipient for sending a sketch of Abraham Lincoln: "What a remarkable man Lincoln was! His writings furnish the text for so many of our actions today…Only just a little while ago some one sent me a quotation from the First Inaugural, wherein he says in effect, 'The dogmas of the peaceful past are not adequate for the troubled present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty and we must rise to the occasion.' That, in itself, is an epitome of the times we are in…" Roosevelt signs at the conclusion. Three spots of mounting remnants on the verso with some show-through, else fine.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
