Description:

BEDRICH SMETANA (1824-1884) Czech composer known for his symphonic poem The Moldau, and the opera The Bartered Bride. Two very rare bold signatures, each executed in purple ink on each of a single small oblong sheet. Light folds, overall very good. Along with a fine cabinet photo by J. Mulac, Prague, showing Smetana in head and shoulders. Apparently, the signatures were used by musical publisher Urbanek (Prague) as a signature sample for a print of Smetana's Musical scores, which were sold with a facsimile signature. $1,500-2,000
