SANDRA GOOD
(b. 1944) Long-time member of the Manson Family and a close friend of Lynette ‘Squeaky' Fromme. Good was in jail with Mary Brunner for attempting to use stolen credit cards when the Tate/La Bianca murders took place, but was arrested at Spahn Ranch during the August 16th raid. In 1975 Good was sentenced to 15 years for sending death threats, and was paroled in 1985. T.L.S. 'Blue' (her ‘Family' name), 6pp. 4to., Alderson, West Virginia, Feb. 7, 1980, to CHARLES MANSON. In part: ‘...I just got a letter form him [Wes] he says ‘My wife Ande and I spent a wonderful seekend [sic] with Charlies old friend, Nuel, up in Clear Lake. Nuel is an unusually kind, warm hearted sincere perosn [sic] with a deep understanding of Charlie. He is helping Charlie write an autobiography and I think it will be very helpful. I saw parts of it. It presents a very human, understandable, sympathetic version of Charlie in contrast to the demonic image which most people present. I think you will like it...' Good continues ‘...Good news show called all things considered starts at 5 p.m. and goes to 7...I'm gonna listen while I embroider on my skull for Barron...' She goes on to describe the story of Les Miserables that she has been listening to on the radio, comparing the description of the French underworld to things Manson has said about the world, and then begins writing about a book she has read. In part: ‘...I just finished reading Paul Watkins book – What a trip...There's a part where he says Paul Crocket stopped the rain. It's like he is comparing Paul's ‘powers' with yours and was looking for proof...He seems to want to think that we are all now mentally deranged...' Signed at the conclusion with her personal annotations throughout. The next four pages seem to be random thoughts, in part: ‘...How can you trust others when you've lost trust in your self...I knew I would be talking to you for I knew your heads and you've hid your own children from yourselves, not wanting to look at the reflections of yourselves in them...The Captain told me his army fought against the devil. All the devil is is the absence of god, truth, trust, and faith- and when you put money in the place of Christ you have then lost your soul...When your kids can believe in the dope dealer more than you believe in yourselves, take a look...You are thinking now what a sad sort of person made this letter...My me, my I, may be the same as your me, your I...Death is a lie. Life is a joke. And god, a clown...' Accomapnied with original holograph transmittal envelope. Mailing folds, else fine.
