Description:

(JACK RUBY) (1911 - 1967) Dallas nightclub owner who shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald following Oswald's assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. A superb Jack Ruby framed presentation piece containing five items tied to his life as a strip club owner and his time in jail thereafter. The most prominent item is Ruby's card from his famous bar, The Carousel, 4" x 2 1/2", promoting the club's three runways and noting: "Offering Sophisticated, Risque, Provocative, Delightful, Entertainment - Your Host - JACK RUBY ". Upon the verso of the card Ruby has penned a pass: "Admit party any nite Jack Ruby ". The pass is framed on a swivel and glazed so that both sides are visible. When the pass is moved, it reveals an exceedingly rare original photograph of Ruby, 3" x 1 3/4" b/w, taken while Ruby was in jail, showing him in the foreground with most likely a detective in the background. Of course, such candid photos were strictly forbidden. Beneath the photograph of Ruby is a reproduction of a photo of him in his office with two strippers, beside which is his original card for his other Dallas strip club, The Carousel Club. Finally, on either side of the pass are matted signed photographs of Ruby's friends, strippers Candy Barr and Kim Athas (who worked Ruby's clubs as well). All items are in very good to fine condition, matted and framed in fine burled oak. From one of the foremost Kennedy collections ever assembled, and an impossibility to duplicate. $1,200-1,500
