(1730 - 1781) Signer of the Declaration of Independence from New Jersey and member of the Continental Congress. Rare A.D.S. signed "Richard Stockton" twice in the text and again at conclusion, 2pp. legal folio, Middlesex Co., N.J., April, 1767, a plea in the case of blacksmith William Nalls, who has been called before the bench as defendant by a charge of reneging upon the regular payment of an installment of his debt to Emanuel Saith. Boldly penned and signed, cleanly split at a horizontal fold, text remains intact with no loss and further held together by expert inlay.
