REVOLUTIONARY WAR MAP OF AMERICA Most unusual hand-colored Revolutionary War map "The United States of America", 10" x 14", issued in France in July, 1781, prior to the end of the Revolutionary War and hence prior to any official recognizance of "The United States of America"! The highly-detailed map was undertaken by French Navy engineer "M. Bonne" and shows all thirteen American colonies, as well as Caribbean islands, Cuba, eastern Canada, the Great Lakes, and "Louisiane", which, of course, would later be purchased by Jefferson. All major cities and rivers are named, and they major tribes of Indians are shown in the areas they inhabited at the time. Fine condition, matted in cloth and set into a silver gilt frame. $300-400
