Description:

REICHLUFTSCHUTZBUND (R.L.B.) LEADER''S DAGGER, 2ND MODEL EX: HARTKOPF
Scarce R.L.B. Leader''s Dagger, 2nd Model, from the Carl Hartkopf foundry, maker of Eickhorn blades. Crossguard of this fine piece displays an art deco national eagle with swastika, and the oval pommel bears two ridges, slightly deformed in one spot (probably where dropped), else very good condition. They meet a pebbled-leather covered wood grip adorned with a sunburst emblem topped with a black enameled swastika. The emblem is fine, the enamel undamaged. When the grip is removed, the otherwise unmarked blade reveals the "CAH" mark for the Carl Hartkopf foundry which manufactured a great number of Eickhorn blades. The blade of the dagger is very fine, exhibiting excellent crossgraining and minimal running marks. The blade edges and tip are excellent, showing no damage nor is there a spot of corrosion on the blade. The scabbard bears identical leather covering, though the edges are worn and holed in places. Fitting bear more corrosion and would benefit from just a bit of cleaning to bring them up to the same condition as the dagger itself. Scabbard and fittings are otherwise fine with no dents, dings, or significant scratches. Overall a good example, estimated fairly.
