PETER FANEUIL
(1700-1743) American colonial merchant who built and donated Faneuil Hall in Boston. During the Revolutionary War, Faneuil Hall was known as "The Cradle of Liberty" and, ironically, was also the site of the Boston Massacre. Rare A.L.S. at the bottom of another letter, 1p. 4to., Boston, Dec. 1, 1740, to Capt. Godfrey Malbone, a fellow merchant in Newport. Beneath a note from an unidentified gentleman regarding an unpaid debt, Faneuil writes: "...I wrote you of this days date the above...these Gentl. endeavor to evade...Affair, I begg you would let me know of yr. Sentiments being determined to put the Affair in to the Law, so soon as I have yr. Answer, wether the fault lyes with them, or as they write you above...". Folds, integral mailing address leaf, very good condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
