Set of 22 photographs in presentation folder prepared upon the occasion of the arrival of Gen. John J. Pershing in France as head of the A.E.F. The photos, each 9" x 6 1/2" and mounted to a 16 1/2" x 12 1/2" green mount, are contained within a folder imprinted in gold (in French): "Documents of the Photographic Section of the French Army". Each image also bears a period typewritten caption beneath which clearly was prepared by a non-native English-speaker. Images include Pershing and American troops arriving at Boulogne, reviewing the honor guard, attending an air exhibition, American bands and troops parading in Paris, meeting Poincare and French governmental leaders, the mobs greeting Pershing, Foch, Joffre and Pershing meeting, and much more. While the covers are stained and quite worn, the photos within remain in excellent condition. of the On June 13, 1917, a little more than two months after the United States entered World War I, Gen. John J. Pershing arrived in France with his staff to establish American forces in Europe. Landing in Boulogne, he was met by an honor guard of veterans, and proceeded to Paris where he received accolades from the enormous crowds.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
