Description:

A photocopy of the top-secret report on the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941, by the Secretary of the Navy Henry K. Hewitt. The 184pp. 4to. report is dated on the first page '12 July 1945'. Some of the topics included are: ‘The Roberts Commission', ‘Findings of the Secretary of the Navy and further investigation', ‘U.S. Pacific Fleet Operating Plan Rainbow Five', ‘Espionage Reports', ‘Japanese messages concerning German attitude', ‘Dispatches concerning reinforcement of Wake and Midway', ‘Admiral Kimmel's failure to transmit information to subordinate commanders', ‘The ‘winds' code and alleged ‘winds' message', ‘Reconnaissance conducted from Oahu', ‘Suspicious submarine contact prior to 7 December 1941', ‘Condition of readiness', ‘Reaction to the attack', and so much more. Seems to be the full report although it begins on page nine. All pages are held together by a metal clip at the top, edges bear some minor tears and folds. Overall very good. Included with this lot is a fully intact map, 22 x 17 in., showing the layout of the U.S. Pacific fleet on Dec. 7, 1941.
