Description:

NSDAP POLITICAL LEADER'S VISOR CAP
A fine example of an 'Ortsgruppenleiter' ('local group leader') level visor constructed of light brown cotton twill with light blue piping. The cap bears a darker brown felt sideband with gilt stamped metal oak leaf insignia and national cockade with swastika attached at front. A bronze-colored national eagle with swastika insignia is pinned above. A late-war yellow celluloid chin strap is affixed to the cap on either side with pebbled gilt buttons. A brown vulkanfibre visor is fitted to the cap, and it is in fine condition. The cap bears a light brown leather sweatband, torn in a few spots, and is lined in brown rayon. It is also fitted with a celluloid sweat shield bearing a coat of arms labeled 'Helvetia' and the name of the owner 'Lehmann.' Very good. It is possible this cap once belonged to Otto Lehmann (1892-1973), Nazi party official who spent most of his career working in the judicial and agricultural departments of the Third Reich.
