MAUSER BAYONETS
Good group of three German and one Yugoslavian knife bayonets for the Mauser Karabiner 98k rifle and its derivatives, includes: M1884/98, third pattern bayonet, 10" blade, 15 1/4" overall, with smooth wood grips and a fully blued blade. The ricasso is marked "42asw", indicating that it was manufactured by the firm of E. & F. Horster in"1942, while the reverse ricasso bears the serial number "8314". The pommel is marked with a pair of straight-winged waffenampt eagle stamps, while the steel scabbard is marked "1533". The scabbard is fitted with a brown leather frog, marked "0/0655/0013" on the reverse of the belt loop. The blade shows some minor run marks, with some wear to the scabbard and frog, else very good. WITH: M1884/98, third pattern bayonet, 10" blade, 15 1/4" overall, with diagonally-ribbed brown composite grips and a blued blade. The ricasso is marked "43fnj" indicating that it was manufactured by the firm of Alex Coppel in 1943, while the reverse ricasso bears the serial number "9267" over "s". The pommel is marked with a pair of straight-winged waffenampt eagle stamps, while the steel scabbard is marked "8931". The scabbard is fitted with a black leather frog. The blade shows some slight run marks, else very good. WITH: M1884/98, third pattern bayonet, 10" blade, 15 1/4" overall, with diagonally-ribbed brown composite grips and a blued blade. The ricasso is marked "43fnj" indicating that it was manufactured by the firm of Alex Coppel in 1943, while the reverse ricasso bears the serial number "3523" over "O". The pommel is marked with a pair of straight-winged waffenampt eagle stamps, while the steel scabbard is marked "8931". The scabbard bears no serial number, and the brown leather frog is a reproduction, as per an old label. The blade shows some run marks, and the flash guard and pommel show some indentations, with a large indentation to the back of the scabbard, else very good. WITH: Bayonet for the Yugoslavian M1948 rifle, a close derivative of the Kar98k, 10" blade, 15" overall, with brown wood grips and a fully blued blade. The reverse ricasso is marked with Cyrillic characters in a semi-circle over the number "44", indicating that it was manufactured at Factory 44, the "Zavodi Crvena Zastava" ("Red Flag Works"), in modern Kragujevac, Serbia. The reverse ricasso side of the crossguard bears the serial number "1458". The bayonet includes a steel scabbard and brown leather frog, and is in very good condition. Four pieces.
