88. STEPHEN DILL LEE (1833-1908) Confederate Lieutenant General who directed artillery at Second Bull Run and Antietam, later led a corps at Atlanta and in the Carolinas. A.L.S. "S.D. Lee" on Agricultural and Mechanical College letterhead, 1p. 4to., Mississippi, Oct. 8, 1891, to an unknown gentleman. In part: "...I can tell you nothing of Genl. Edwin G. Lee. If connected with Genl. R. E. Lee's family it is so distant that the relationship cannot be traced. Possibly Genl. G.W. Custis Lee-at Lexington Va.-can inform you...I am a South Carolinian..."
