Description:

KNIGHTS CROSS WITH PRESENTATION CASE AND PRESENTATION BOX
A very rare combination, an absolutely pristine Knights Cross of the Iron Cross by Steinhaur & Luck, Ludenscheib, sold with the original hinged black presentation case and the excessively rare white cardboard box within which the presentation case was shipped. This Model 4 cross retains an extraordinary amount of its original frosting, which is just the slightest bid worn about the edges. Silver contanbet is hallmarked '925'. There is some tarnish at the ends of the arms, as is to be expected, otherwise this cross is magnificent. The black fitted case holding the cross bears an eight-segment hinge and an operable push-button lock. Also present is the neatly folded original ribbon. Of incredible rarity is the original cardboard box which contained the cross and its box. This white box is imprinted: 'Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes' with the Steinhauer & Luck maker's name appearing at one end. Two corners of the box are cleanly split and one edge is torn, signs of small, old tape repairs at the corners, some soiling and negligible paper loss at the sites of the repairs, else very good. Last sold by Craig Gottlieb Militaria, June, 2011. A superb addition to the finest medals collection.
