JOSEPH MCDOWELL, JR.
(1756-1801) An American planter, soldier, and statesman from North Carolina known as "Quaker Meadows Joe" to distinguish him from his cousin Joseph "Pleasant Gardens" McDowell, who was also a legislator and Revolutionary War officer. Commanded militiamen at the Battle of Kings Mountain, also fought at the Battle of Cowpens. Manuscript D.S. 2pp. folio, Rowan Co., NC, June 14, 1775, a court judgement awarding forty pounds, also signed by his brother JOHN MCDOWELL. Weak folds, a few marginal chips and tears, still generally quite good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry.
