Description:

JIMI HENDRIX
(1942 - 1970) American rock guitarist considered one of the most influential and trend-setting musicians of his generation. HENDRIX GETS CASH TO PARTY WITH THE STONES ON HIS LAST BIRTHDAY Fine and rare typed document flamboyantly signed "Jimi Hendrix" in brown marker, 1p. 4to. on the business letterhead of "Michael Jeffery Management, Inc.", 1p. 4to., New York, Nov. 23, 1969. In full: "Received from Gerry Stickells the sum of $2,500.00 cash for personal use", signed beneath his typed name. A few folds do not detract. Double-matted in black with a color photo of the rock legend. Hendrix's birthday was four days later, and of course some spending cash would be needed. He celebrated by attending a Rolling Stones concert at Madison Square Garden in New York and jammed with Mick Taylor in their dressing room the same day. A party for Jimi followed, with events leading to Hendrix writing "Dolly Dagger". It would also be his last birthday. The other two men mentioned in this document had an interesting relationship with Hendrix. Michael Jeffery was Hendrix's manager, and has been accused of murdering the star by poisoning him with sleeping pills following Hendrix's stated intention to sever their relationship. Jeffery died in 1973. Gerry Stickells was Hendrix's tour manager. According to Monika Dannemann, who discovered Hendrix's body, Gerry Stickells was present before an ambulance was called, and had removed some of Hendrix's possessions, including some of his most recent messages.
