Description:

JAMES THURBER
(1894 - 1961) American cartoonist and writer of numerous books, short stories, and essays. Managing editor of the New Yorker (1927-33). A superb piece of original art, a pen and ink cartoon measuring 9" x 3 1/2" [sight], titled "To Washington, PA". It depicts a frantic man, woman and child fleeing from an unknown state or person towards Washington, PA, with a dog looking on. Not signed, matted and ready to frame. Fine condition. With a complementary image similarly matted, showing the now-beleaguered family trudging towards "New Jersey"! A fine pair, perfect for display.
