JAMES III
(1688 - 1766) James Francis Edward Stuart, Prince of Wales, the son of the deposed James II and claimant to the English and Scottish thrones, proclaimed king by Louis XIV and twice landed in England to claim his throne. Following the 1715 Jacobite Rebellion in Scotland, he was crowned King of Scotland but within days was forced to flee and return to France. Manuscript L.S. "James R", 1p. 4to., Court at Saint Germains, July 10, 1714, to Jacobite Earl of Kilsyth, acknowledging his services rendered against William of Orange's Army and asking him to forward news which be of "...service to the Cause...". Quite soiled and worn, with text faded as a result, generally in a fragile state. A hole through James' signature impacts it a bit, overall fair condition. Offered as is.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
