Description:

JAMES H. DOOLITTLE
(1896-1993) American aviator who gained fame both as a racing pilot and as leader of the first air raid on Tokyo during World War II. An interesting relic, a 2" x 2 1/2" piece of fabric from a plane crashed by Doolittle in the 1930s, boldly signed by famous aviator later in life. According to the letter of provenance (copy included), "[Doolittle] crashed this plane (a Laird Super Solution) during a race in the 1930s. I know [this is] authentic since they were given to my Dad by a friend of his who was a member of the crew servicing the plane...". Very good condition.
