A good pair of medical related pieces including THOMAS GEORGE MORTON (1835 - 1903, American surgeon known for his role in the creation of several military hospitals and his work on metatarsalgia. A.L.S. 3pp. 8vo. Philadelphia, Apr. 21, 1896, to Dr. Halbertstadt, in part: "...I have ceased to be apprised about everything, and this case alltho not expected, is the result of the visit to Ashland Hospital; I think you were quite right in the stand you have taken, and no matter what happens here, will be right...". Very good. Offered together with SILAS WEIR MITCHELL (1829 - 1914), American physician and author, Union Army surgeon and specialist in study and treatment of neurological disorders. A lot of two signatures, each in fountain ink on small sheets, fine condition, and well-suited to framing with an image. Together, two pieces.
