Description:

HIMMLER SS HONOR DAGGER
Most desirable and rare 1934 Heinrich Himmler SS presentation honor dagger by Carl Eickhorn, 8.5 in. blade, 13.5 in. overall. The SS Himmler presentation dagger was awarded to SS officers and men who participated in the overthrow and murder of Ernst Rohm and his powerful
Sturmabteilung associates during the historic ‘Night of the Long Knives'. Other recipients included generals chosen to be so honored by Himmler. The dagger features all matching early nickel-silver fittings for the upper and lower cross guards and scabbard mounts. The underside of the lower cross guard is correctly stamped with the benchmark number ‘5'. The black ebony grip displays chipping at top and bottom as well as some negligible indents all about, not greatly detracting, but still retains a smooth transition to the crossguard. The runes button is a bit yellowed but undamaged, the inlaid nickel-silver eagle is fine, and both are perfectly fitted and certainly original to the grip. The blade is quite pitted and has been buffed to clean old corrosion. The obverse side of the blade presents the SS motto ‘My Honor is Loyalty', worn, and the reverse of the blade shows the Carl Eickhorn maker's mark. The Himmler presentation reads 'In Heartfelt Comradeship H. Himmler'. The anodized scabbard mounts are affixed with four original screws and the body of the scabbard is straight and free of dents, though the finish of the scabbard is wanting. The scabbard lower mount's ball is bears a dent at the bottom, and the scabbard's throat shows a few minor dents. Attached to the scabbard is a black leather hanger, quite worn but completely intact, with the original RZM code 'M5/71' for Overhoff & Cie, with the makers mark, along with a blue SS stamp within the leather.
