An extraordinary assembly of insignia once owned and worn by a career military officer (unidentified), a Bavarian general who served his country for over 25 years including during World War I. Included is a medal bar once pinned to the chest of the unknown but no doubt high-ranking German officer of World War I. This untouched medal bar includes the following: Iron Cross, 2nd Class; Order of the House of Hohenzollern, Knight's Cross with Swords, 1916-1918; Military Merit Order (Bavaria), Gold with Crown and Swords; Hindenburg War Cross; Military Merit Order, Silver; Bavarian Prince Leopold Jubilee Medal; Order of the Red Eagle, IV Class (Prussia); House of Schaumburg-Lippe Officer's Cross of Merit (chip to red enamel); Bavarian Long Service Cross, II Class for 24 years' service; Military Merit Cross, 3rd Class (Austro-Hungary); and Red Cross Officer's Decoration (Austria), enamel on lower bar of red cross chipped). The verso of the 8 1/2" long bar bears a gray wool backing (some moth holes) and original retaining pin. Overall very good. ALSO: the corresponding smaller ribbon bar, 6 1/2" long, stained; the general's two cloth collar tabs denoting his rank, silver wire embroidery on medium green 1 3/4" x 3 3/4" backing denoting a "jager" association; two general's slip-on shoulder boards, gold wire and cloth with the same "jager" affiliation; and a pair of stirrups belonging to the general, unknown hallmark. An great assemblage worthy of research!
