Description:

Set of six matching sterling silver demitasse spoons owned and used by Reichsmarshal Herman Goring, most likely at informal affairs. The spoons, each measuring 4 in. long, bear a simplified version of Goring's family crest, an arm in armor grasping a ring, engraved at the end of each handle. The spoons are hallmarked by noted silversmiths Bruckmann & Sohne, purity 800. Set into a repurposed Henckels fitted case. According to copies of notarized and other letters of provenance accompanying this lot, the spoons and a great deal of other Goring silver were obtained from one David Braugh (or 'Brugh') and his son, David Braugh, Jr. by collector James C. Correll in 2005. Our consignor purchased some of these items from Correll, and later purchased additional items directly from Pamela Correll, Correll's widow. Her letter simply states Braugh, Sr. had served in World War II and had returned from Germany with a large collection of Goring silverware, etc. Another letter states that several pieces from the original collection were also sold to Dr. Mark D. Griffith, noted author of two volumes on 'liberated' Adolf Hitler memorabilia. Engraving appears period and authentic, and Bruckmann was the preferred supplier of silverware to most Nazi officials.

Shipments are sent via FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option. Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
