Description:

HERMANN FEGELEIN'S CIGARETTE CASE
HERMANN FEGELEIN (1906 - 1945) Nazi military leader and SS-Gruppenfuhrer, a Knight's Cross winner with Oak Leaves. Fegelein married Eva Braun's sister and served as liaison between Hitler and Himmler, but in the closing days of the war he was caught attempting to flee and was summarily executed. Sterling silver cigarette case believed to have belonged to Hermann Fegelein. The case measures 3 x 3.5 in. with a hinged lid. The case bears a striated top lid, with the bottom bearing a checkered pattern. Within, the cigarette case is gold-washed and still bears two original elastic retaining bands. It bears an '835' purity stamp, with an unknown maker's hallmark. Three additional unknown hallmarks appear on the clasp. The top lid bears a sharp, small ding, else very good. The case is presented in a black leather felt-lined presentation case with black pebbled leather slipcase. The slipcase in turn bears a red leather label with gilt decoration and lettering: 'SS GRUPPENFUHRER HERMANN FEGELEIN SILVER BOX'. No other provenance exists. This case was originally owned by noted East Coast collector Firman Michel who amassed an enormous collection of militaria, photographs, art, photographs, and much more, including Hermann Goring's Pilot Observer Badge. Regrettably, any history his purchase of this relic cannot be found, thus estimated accordingly and sold as is.
