Description:

HEINRICH HIMMLER
(1900 - 1945) Reichsfuhrer of the SS and a leading member of the Nazi Party. Hitler briefly appointed him a military commander and later Commander of the Replacement (Home) Army and General Plenipotentiary for the administration of the entire Third Reich. HIMMLER DEMOTES A SENIOR BERLIN SS OFFICER FOR PERSONALLY INSULTING HEYDRICH AND HIMSELF Fine content T.L.S., 1p. large 4to., [SS Headquarters, Munich], Mar. 14, 1934. A signed retained copy or copy sent to a third party of a letter sent to an SS-Standartenfuhrer who had publicly insulted Himmler and his close associate, REINHARD HEYDRICH. In part (loosely translated): '...I demote you in accordance with the disciplinary penalty regulations - SSDV No. 15...1.) You have the official confidentiality to which you as head of the S.D. in Berlin you were particularly obliged...[we have been] seriously injured by the fact that you were involved in secret official matters of the 5th D. Berlin which you have told a friend of yours. 2.) In connection with your misconduct marked under point 1, you denied on word of honor to a Sturmmann who was subordinate to you that you had given the girl in question information about official matters and then, without protest, you were told by the same Sturmmann that you had given a false word of honor and were accused of lying...You are guilty of insulting and threatening your highest superiors, Reichsfuhrer-SS and Brigadefuhrer Heydrich, because, according to the unanimous testimony of 4 witnesses, in the presence of subordinate SS members of your office, you requested your leave of absence from Reichsfuhrer- SS as a meanness and cowardice of the Reichsfuhrer-SS and Brigadefuhrer Heydrich and threatened that if you show the Reichsfuhrer-SS and Brigadefuhrer Heydrich what a womanizer is, they will get to know you. I have refrained from imposing a more severe punishment given your long-standing membership in the SS...'. Boldly signed in red indelible pencil. Edge faults including multiple file holes in left margin cost few letters of text, still overall very good. HANS KOBELINSKI (1900-1937) would play an integral part in Himmler's power struggle between Rudolf Diels and the Himmler/Heydrich duo for control the Gestapo. He had taken part in the Putsch, been awarded the Blood Order, and joined the NSDAP in 1930. In early 1934, he took over leadership of the newly created SD East East Section in Berlin. These charges made against him may have, partly or in whole, been a fabrication. Allegedly, Kobelinski passed on secret SS materials to Diels and thus aroused the suspicion of Heydrich, who feared that Kobelinski was conspiring with Diels. Kobelinski was reinstated but permanently expelled in 1936, charged with homosexuality, and sent to Dachau where he committed suicide - or most likely was murdered. An important historical document.
