Description:

HARRY S. TRUMAN
(1884-1972) Thirty-third President of the United States who led the country in the closing days of World War II and through the re-building of Europe under the Marshall Plan and the Korean War. Fine signed book, Mr. President by William Willman (New York: Farrar, Straus and Young, 1952), oversized hardcover boldly signed beneath frontis portrait: "Kindest regards from Harry S. Truman 12/3/1953". With an additional autograph card affixed to the verso signed by BESS TRUMAN, and with several autograph of Truman's cabinet members affixed to the final free endpaper, including: JAMES FORRESTAL, CHARLES BRANNAN and others. Regrettably, a large piece of clear tape has been used to adhere Bess' autograph to the sheet and is wrapped around bottom edge and up to the date on Truman's inscription, covering it. One or two pages a bit toned, else very good, with original dustjacket. Along with T.L.S.'s of EARL WARREN, RALPH J. BUNCHE and FIORELLO LAGUARDIA (2). Five pieces overall, very good condition.
