HANS BAUR FUNERAL SASHES
Good lot of fourteen rayon or fiber funerals sashes, thirteen partial and one complete, all worn by various mourners during the 1993 funeral of HANS BAUR(1897-1993)World War I flying ace, SS officer and personal pilot to German dictator Adolf Hitler. Six of the sashes bear the titles of various organizations with connections to Baur, including: HIAG, or "Hilfsgemeinschaft auf Gegenseitigkeit der Angehorigen der ehemaligen Waffen-SS"("Mutual Aid Association of Former Waffen-SS Members'); the "Orden der Bayer[ische] Tapferkeitsmedaille K.d.o.R." ("Order of the Bavarian Medal for Bravery"), two examples; "Ordensgemeinschaft der Ritterkreuztrager" ("Order of Knight's Cross Knights"); the "Freiheitliche Deutsche Arbeiterpartei" ("Free German Worker's Party", a neo-Nazi political party outlawed by the German Constitutional Court in 1995; and "Kameradschaft IV Salzburg". The remainder feature more general expressions of mourning ("Dem treuen Kameraden", "Zum Abschied", "Letzter Gruss", etc.), with one bearing the name and rank of the deceased. The majority have been trimmed, else very good. Also present with the lot is an album containing 61 3 1/2" x 5" color photographs depicting Baur's funeral service, with numerous shots showing flower arrangements bearing many of the sashes presented here, as well as a second album containing color photos depicting a 1982 visit to Sao Paulo, Brazil, by Baur and his wife, along with several other acquaintances. The lot is rounded out by a selection of letters, documents and newspaper articles related to Baur's death and funeral, the majority photocopies.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
