Description:

1101. HERMANN GOERING (1893 - 1946) German politician who began his career as an ace in World War I, rose to become Hitler's right-hand man and head of the Luftwaffe, finally captured and committed suicide on the eve of his execution. Exceptional I.S.P. 6" x 9" sepia, a stunning three-quarter length image showing Goering in uniform by Magdeburg, Breitweg, housed in original presentation folder. Boldly inscribed in German: "Malcolm Sanford, with best wishes for a great artistic future and in grateful thoughts of his warm attitude in my most difficult period! Herman Goering". No date, but possibly a late example following his capture. Folder bears slight fold to bottom margin, photo is immaculate and certainly a very fine example. Ex: Rendell, with original catalog description. $1,500 - 2,000
