Description:

GETTYSBURG PEACH ORCHARD CANE
A fine and rare relic from the Gettysburg battlefield, a delicate 35" pyro-designed knobby wood cane with a 4" gnarled grip marked with the place of its origin: "Peach Orchard" near the top of the shaft. This cane was likely carved by a veteran on the battlefield as a souvenir, ca. 1880's. Coated with clear varnish. Very good to fine. The Peach Orchard was hotly contested during the battle, changing hands several times, and canes from the area of the battlefield are rarely found.
