Description:

GERMAN WORKER'S PARTY PODIUM DISPLAY
Rare World War II relic, a wood podium speaker's stand, 20" x 20 1/2" x 6", bearing a lightly-stained upper section with black painted base. The upper section bears on both sides an 8" circum. inlaid wood logo of the German Workers Party ("D.A.P.") from whose premises we presume this item was "liberated". The top of the stand can be removed to reveal the hollow interior, apparently for the storage of the speaker's speeches, notes, etc. Finish is crazed in places, a few small chips to base, overall very good. From the estate of the recipient, Col. Ernest "Tex" Lee, who served throughout the war as Eisenhower's Executive Officer and Aide de Camp. Lee joined Ike in June, 1941 and assisted in the planning of the invasions at Normandy and the ultimate defeat of Germany.
