GERMAN SPANISH CROSS AWARD Scarce document, 1p. large folio, Berlin, June 6, 1939, an award of the Spanish Cross in Bronze to Unterfeldwebel Otto Bline of the Horst Wessel Squadron. Folds, light soiling, else generally very good. The Spanish Cross was instituted on April 14th, 1939, and awarded on June 6th, of the same year, to recognize those German Forces who volunteered for service in the Spanish Civil War. Hitler sent his Condor Legion to support Franco against communists in Spain, largely to give his troops combat experience for the coming invasions in Europe.
