(1895 - 1960) American lyricist who composed for the classic shows Showboat, Oklahoma!, South Pacific, and The King and I, to name a few. Good content T.L.S. 1p. 8vo. on his personal letterhead, [n.p.,] May 7, 1957 to Miss Perkins thanking her for her "...contribution of $3.00 to the George M. Cohan Memorial Fund... You will be pleased to know that you are among hundreds throughout the country who have responded to Ed Sullivan's St. Patrick's Day TV appeal, and we are gratified to know that the name of 'Mr. Broadway' has not been forgotten. On behalf of the other member of our Committee to erect a statue of George M. Cohan in Duffy Square, our thanks.". Several toned spots at margins, usual folds, else very good. Offered together with ROBERT MOSES T.L.S. 1p. 4to., New York, Aug. 12, 1959 inviting Miss Perkins to the dedication ceremony for the statue of Cohan, writing, "...On Friday, September 11, at 11:30 P.M. after the theatre break, we shall dedicate the George M. Cohan Memorial... in Duffy Square...". Also together with a printed invitation to the ceremony. Three pieces in very good condition.
