Description:

GEN. GEORGE S. PATTON'S SIGNED WORLD WAR II PISTOL HOLSTER
An astounding relic of one of America's greatest generals, a fine hand-stitched leather shoulder holster owned and much used by Gen. George S. Patton during World War II. Wear within the holster indicates that it once carried Patton's government-issue Colt .380 semi-automatic, his most-used pistol during the war, and this holster has the wear to show it. The leather shows soiling and wear in the appropriate locations, along with a splatter of fountain pen ink on the surface of the holster. Additionally, Patton signed the holster: "G. S. Patton Jr." in black ink when he presented the holster to his friend, Col. Ernest "Tex" Lee. From the estate of the recipient, Col. Ernest "Tex" Lee, who served throughout the war as Eisenhower's Executive Officer and Aide de Camp. Lee joined Ike in June, 1941 and assisted in the planning of the invasions at Sicily, Normandy and the ultimate defeat of Germany. Accompanied by a letter from Lee's son indicating that Col. Lee had stated to his family that he had obtained the holster directly from Patton during the European war and that it has remained in the family since that time. A relic evocative of the volatile general: one can imagine Patton grasping this holster as he took shots at a German fighter, or while threatening to shoot a shell-shocked soldier.
