Description:

(FUNERAL OF PAUL VON HINDENBURG)
Good lot of four items of ephemera, all related to the funeral of general and Chancellor of Germany PAUL VON HINDENBURG (1847-1934), includes: Partly-printed D.S., 1p oblong 4to., [n.p., n.d.], inviting a civil servant, Max Boehme, to attend Hindenburg''s memorial service at the Tannenberg Memorial near Hohenstein in East Prussia, on August 7, 1934. The invitation further states that a special train will be available to transport mourners directly from Berlin to the memorial. Very good to fine. WITH: Usigned printed document, 1p. 4to., [n.p., n.d.], a program for the funeral service, featuring a musical selection from Beethoven, a military parade of honor, and, of course, a speech by Adolf Hitler. Shows folds, else very good. WITH: Partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Berlin, Dec. 13, 1934, a certificate granting Max Boehme the Honor Cross of the World War 1914/1918, which was established by Hindenburg''s decree of July 13, 1934. Signed at the conclusion by a Berlin police official, very good. WITH: Unsigned printed document, 1p. 8vo., [n.p., n.d.], inviting the recipient to a ceremony at the State Opera on April 2, 1935, celebrating the "acquisition of the entire administration of justice to the Reich". Events listed include a speech by Hermann Goering, as well as renditions of the "Deutschlandlied" and the "Horst-Wessel-Lied". Very good. Four pieces.
