(1817 - 1895) Black-American reformer born a slave, Douglass was instrumental in the creation of the Union Negro regiments which fought with great distinction during the war. D.S. "Fredk Douglass Recorder" as Recorder of Deeds, 3pp. legal folio, Washington, May 17, 1886, signed on endorsement side acknowledging that a deed has been entered in the Land records for the District of Columbia. Some light toning to cover, else fine condition.
