FIRST WORLD WAR AUTOGRAPHS
A good collection of five pieces including JOHN J. PERSHING Masonic T.L.S. 1p. 4to., Washington, Mar. 2, 1942 thanking his recipient for "...your letter of congratulations on my election to an honorary life member of the Missouri Grand Lodge...."; WILLIAM S. SIMS Funny war date T.L.S. as commander of U.S. Naval forces in Europe, 1p. 8vo., London, Oct. 27, 1917 admonishing his correspondent: "I beg to invite your attention to the fact that there is a great war now going on and I do not think you should make any demands upon the time of those who are occupied in it for the sake of collecting autographs or anything else which cannot help along the common cause". Sims, of course signs the letter; REGINALD WINGATE A.L.S. 1p. 4to., Dunbar, Aug. 3, 1921, "...I do not know if you have ever seen the following lines written for the grave of Gordon 'I had rather be dead than praised.' C.G.G. 'By those for whom he lived he died. His land awoke too late & crowned dead brows with praise. He, 'neath the blue that burns o'er Libyan sand, But off the burden of heroic days. There, strong by death, by failure glorified, O, never proud in life, lie down in pride!'..."; EDDIE RICKENBACKER S.P. 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" sepia photo of the 1919 Paris victory parade; WILLIAM "BILLY" MITCHELL his bold signature on a small mounted slip (with former U.S. Ambassador, HANDORD MACNIDER on the verso). Together, five pieces in very good condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. NOTE: large, heavy or bulky items are not shipped by the auctioneer.
