ERWIN VON WITZLEBEN
(1881 - 1944) German field marshal implicated and recipient of the Knights Cross for his decisive actions in the conquest of France. A key planner in July 20 bomb plot on Hitler's life, von Witzleben was to head the entire Wehrmacht. Once found-out, he was made to appear before the court wearing trousers that were several sizes to big, forcing him to continually hitch up his trousers in court to prevent them from falling down. His hanging was filmed for Hitler's entertainment. Rare S.P. 4 3/4" x 6" b/w, a paperstock photo signed in blue ink, mounted. Fine condition.
