Description:

IRA EINHORN(b. 1940) "The Unicorn Killer", a Beat philosopher and activist who in 1977 killed his girlfriend Holly Maddux and apparently mummified her. He escaped to France for many years, and was eventually extradited to the U.S. for trial. Now serving a life sentence. Unusual signed book, his volume "78-187880" (New York: Doubleday, 1972), part philosophical treatise, part Beat poetry, interspersed with images and collages. Boldly inscribed on the first free endpaper: "For Ed Bacon Stimulus for an important chapter. It's good to write in a book I've done. Work completed makes one feel good. [a symbol] Ira". Einhorn continues to be a controversial figure. His most recent November 2006 appeal for his first-degree murder conviction was slapped down because it did not merit "warrant relief". Very good condition. $100-150
