Description: DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER'S GOLF BAG
A terrific presidential relic, a leather and canvas golf bag once owned and used by Dwight D. Eisenhower. The bag, manufactured by Burton and measuring 32" in length, is well worn and is accompanied by one of Eisenhower's golf balls and three tees. Eisenhower gave the bag (then still containing clubs), to T. Coleman Andrews, who ran the I.R.S. during his administration. Andrews later gave it to his son , T. Coleman Andrews Jr. who then in turn gave it as a gift to his friend and golfing buddy Jim Sale, a top-ranked amateur golfer in Virginia. The bag is accompanied by a letter of provenance from Sale's widow, who notes that "[T. Coleman Andrews Jr.] told Jim that the President had played many times with the bag and clubs, the clubs were lost over the years. The ball and tees were also said to be game used by the President." Bag is very well-worn and is frayed in places and is accompanied by an aluminum golf-ball retriever that does not appear to have been owned by Eisenhower. A wonderful Eisenhower association piece.
