1097. KARL DONITZ (1891 - 1980) German admiral who headed the U-Boat arm of the German Navy, later succeeded Hitler as Fuehrer after Hitler's suicide. Good lot of two items, including a T.L.S. on his letterhead, 1p. 4to., Holstein, Jan. 31, 1971 in German, mentions the famous U-Boat sailors and brothers, REINHARD SUHREN and GERD SUHREN. Sold with a rare vintage album page signed by both beneath a newspaper image. Reinhard, a captain, was awarded the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords, Gerd was awarded a Knight's Cross for his abilities as a leading engineer. Two pieces. $150 - 200
