Description:

A fine grouping related to U.S. Army Air Corps Second Lieutenant Harold P. Maas, includes: his Distinguished Flying Cross, engraved on the reverse with his name and rank "2nd. Lt. Harold P. Maas A[ir] C[orps]", in its original presentation case and accompanied by a ribbon bar, although the lapel button bar is absent. The case and the medal itself both show slight wear, else very good. WITH: sterling silver "sweetheart" bracelet, approx. 7.5 in. long, consisting of a central plate engraved with the name "Lt Harold P. Maas", beneath a set of pilot's wings in high relief. His serial number "0-735884" is engraved on the verso. Shows some tarnish and wear, else very good. WITH: oval celluloid pinback name badge, 2.75 x 1.75 in., marked on the reverse as being manufactured by the "Westn. Badge & Button Co." of Los Angeles. The obverse reads "A/C Harold P. Maas: above the Army Air Corps' insignia. Shows minor wear, else very good. WITH: a fine collection of 49 first or second-generation photographs, most 3 3/4" x 5" b/w or smaller, the majority depicting Army Air Corps bomber aircraft and crews, predominately the B-17, including many-air-to-air views taken during missions, crashed or damaged planes, fighter escorts, and ground targets on fire. Several images are captioned in the plate, some giving the names of the airmen depicted, and a few bear U.S.A.A.F. backstamps. Some show wear or bumps to the edges, else very good. Should be seen.
