1096. JOSEF "SEPP" DIETRICH (1892 - 1966) Commanded 6th Panzer Army in the Battle of the Bulge. Sentenced to 25 years' imprisonment for the execution of American P.O.W.'s during the offensive. Early T.L.S. as SS Obergruppenfuhrer on Adjutant to the Fuhrer letterhead, 1p. 4to., Berlin, Apr. 1, 1936 to his superior, Heinrich Himmler advising Himmler that Hitler orders all SS men in the Adjutant's Office be assigned to his Leibstandarte unit and transferring a SS Capt. Paul Wernicke. Boldly signed in indelible pencil. Very good. Surprising in that the letter shows Dietrich's closeness to Hitler despite his sub ordinance to Himmler. $300 - 400.
