Truman from 1949 to 1953, helped design the Marshall Plan and was a key player in the development of the Truman Doctrine and creation of NATO. T.L.S. as Secretary of State to on office letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Washington D.C., September 26, 1951, to Minister Cornelius Greenway. In part: '...In the strenuous days which have passed since the signing of the treaty, I have not had the time to answer your letter before now. However, I am very glad to do as you ask and have written one of the quotations you request...I should have been glad to get Mr. Dulles signature, but I was not certain whether you wanted him to sign it in any particular way...' Fine condition. The treaty referenced was likely the Security Treaty between the United States and Japan signed on September 8, 1951, which ended the military occupation of Japan, restored its sovereignty, and outlined a lasting military alliance. Sold with another four T.L.S.s dated 1951-54, containing routine content, and a signed card with mailing envelope. Six signed items.
