Description:

CONFEDERATE PRISONER OF WAR ENJOYS HIS CONFINEMENT
Good content C.S.A. prisoner's letter, 3pp. 8vo., Johnson's Island, Jan. 13, 1865 in which one M. O'Dell writes to his uncle. In part: "...I could get a furlough and come home but I failed....there are about thirty two hundred prisoners here now. The boys are in excellent good health, we have had a fine winter...I think I shall not be satisfied to get out for I like the place and soldering over the left...the boys are making so much noise that I cannot write or think of anything...thirty or forty standing over [me] and shaking everything, I have got clear out of patience with them and soldiering...". Very good.
