A fine lot of four items signed by Confederate politicians representing the state of Louisiana, includes: THOMAS O. MOORE (1804 – 1876) 16th Governor of Louisiana from 1860 until 1864 Anticipating that Louisiana's Ordinance of Secession would be passed in January 1861, he ordered the state militia to seize all U.S. military posts. Scarce war-date printed D.S. ‘Thos. O Moore', 1p large folio, Baton Rouge, March 1, 1862, a State of Louisiana bond for $100. Moore signs in black ink, with the Secretary of State, Treasurer and Auditor of Public Accounts countersigning. One interest payment coupon has been clipped from the top right, shows folds with minor splits thereto, else very good. WITH: THOMAS J. SEMMES (1824-1899) Confederate Senator for Louisiana, helped draft the state's secession ordnance. Signature Thos. J. Semmes' in black ink on a 4 x 2 in. card, adding his title. Toned, with mounting traces to the verso, else very good. WITH: EDWARD SPARROW (1810-1882) Represenative for Louisiana to the provisional Confederate Congress, later a Confederate Senator. Signature ‘Edw. Sparrow' in black ink on a 4 x 1.5 in. slip of paper, adding his title. Mounted, with the word ‘Confederate' clipped out but replaced on the mount, else very good. WITH: ALEXANDER DE CLOUET (1812-1890) Louisiana representative to the Confederate Congress, assisted in drafting the Confederate Constitution. Signature ‘Alex. De Clouet' in black ink on a 3.5 x 2.25 in. card, adding his title and state. Faintly toned, with mounting traces to the verso, else very good. Four pieces.
