Description:

CONCENTRATION CAMP INDUSTRY SHOES
A chilling relic of the Holocaust, a pair of wooden-soled shoes with combination leather/linen uppers (11" x 7" x 3"), made in a concentration camp for the use of prisoners. The wooden soles have been augmented with hobnails and a small "horse-shoe" on the heel. This example is one of the more comfortable examples as the 'standard issue' was often a wooden-soled sandal or Dutch-style wooden shoe. This particular pair has virtually no wear and was probably never used. Overall very good condition. Originates from the sale last year of the holdings of a noted New York Holocaust museum.
