In part: “You are relieved from further assignment and duty as Commanding General of the U.S. Contingent, Headquarters 15th Army Group and are assigned to command the First Infantry Division…By Command of General EISENHOWER…” With three typed copies. WITH: a 3pp. 4to. “SECRET” chronology of Huebner’s schedule from March 30 to May 7, 1943 prepared by “Allied Force Headquarters G-3 Section” WITH a Sep. 14, 1943 2pp. 4to. “roster of the Chiefs of General and Special Staff and unit commanders” of the 1st Infantry sent by Huebner to II Corps commander John P. Lucas. Very good. CLARENCE R. HUEBNER (1888-1972) was an American major general who commanded the 1st Infantry Division in its assault on Omaha Beach, in the drive across France, at the Hurtgen Forest and in the battle of Aachen. In part: “Heartiest congratulations on your Birthday Monday. May health and happiness be yours for many more anniversaries…” Very good.
