438. CIVIL WAR FIELD WHISTLE A rarely-encountered Civil War accoutrement, a field whistle on its original chord lanyard. The whistle, with two chambers, measures 1 3/4" long and is crudely hand-engraved with the owners initials, etc.: "A.L.T. 1st A[rmy] C[orps] 1864". Very good condition. Obtained directly from noted Gettysburg dealers, The Horse Soldier, whose expertise in arms, uniforms and projectiles is unimpeachable. $500-700
