Good group of one letter, one note, one signed photograph, one signed publication and eleven signatures, all executed by Chinese and Japanese diplomats, politicians, and educational reformers of the 19th and 20th centuries, includes: LI TSUNG-JEN (1890-1969) Chinese general, later acting president of the Republic of China. I.S.P. as T.S. Lee, 4" x 6 1/4" b/w, inscribed to Miss A. Hedge, dated June 1, 1948 at Nanking; HIROMICHI KOZAKI (1856-1938) Japanese Christian theologian and educator. Signed and inscribed publication, "Calendar of the Doshisha Preparatory Collegiate Theological Scientific and Politico-Law Schools for the Year 1891-92" (Tokyo: Seishi-Bunsha), 1891, 63pp. 8vo., a catalog containing faculty lists, course lists, and illustrations of the Doshisha School in Kyoto, of which Kozaki was president. Signed and inscribed by Kozaki in black ink on the front cover, which is detached but present; GEORGE YEH (1904-1981) Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador to the United States for the Republic of China. T.L.S., 1p. 4to, [n.p.], Jan. 17, 1953, to Robert R. Gros, Yeh thanks his correspondent for a previous letter, signed in black ink at the conclusion, with a retained copy of Gros''s letter present; TSENG CHI-TSE (1839-1890) Chinese minister to Russia, France and Britain. Autograph note in the third person, 1p. 8vo., Tunbridge Wells, Dec. 3, 1885, transmitting his autograph to an admirer, executing his name as "The Marquis Tseng"; ALFRED SAO-KE SZE (1877-1958) First Chinese ambassador to the United States. Signature on a 3" x 5" card; CHEN LANBIN (1816-1895), first Chinese minister to the United States. Signatures in Chinese and English on a 1 3/4" x 3 1/4" card, with a pencil identifying inscription at left; LO TSUNG-YEE Chinese diplomat, represented China at the 1928 meeting of the Olympic Games Committee. Signature as "T.Y. Lo" on a 1" x 1 3/4" slip of card, laid down on a larger sheet with the printed address of the Chinese Legation in London; NAKASHIMA RIKIZO (1858-1918) Japanese Educator and Kantian Philosopher. Signatures in Japanese and English on a 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" card; LO FENG-LUH (1850-1903), Chinese ambassador to Britain. Bold signatures in Chinese and English on a 5" x 7 1/2" piece of stationery, blind-embossed with the image of a dragon and laid down on a larger backing; TAKASAKI MASAKAZE (1836-1912) Japanese Imperial Court councilor and privy councilor, later chief of the Imperial Poem Office. Signature in Japanese on a 3/4" x 2 3/4" slip of paper cut from a letter, accompanied by an autograph letter from Takasaki''s son, Masamitsu, 2pp. 8vo., Tokyo, May 2, 1916, transmitting the signature; WANG CHUNG-HUI (1881-1958), first Minister of Justice for the Chinese Republic. Signature on a 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" card, in blue ink; ZAIZE (1876-1929) Manchu noble, advocate for the adoption of a constitutional monarchy in China. Signature in Chinese and English as "Prince Tsai Iseh" on a 2" x 3 1/4" card, adding his title and the date May 13, 1906; WEI TAO-MING (1899-1978) Chinese ambassador to the United States during World War II. Signature in Chinese and English on a 3" x 5" card; ZHANG YINHUAN (1837-1900), Chinese ambassador to Great Britain and the United States. Signature in English on a 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" card, adding his title as ambassador to Britain, along with a second 2" x 5" card bearing his signature in Chinese; and V.K. WELLINGTON KOO (1888-1985) Chinese ambassador to France, Britain and the United States, representative at the Paris Peace Conference, founding member of both the League of Nations and the United Nations. Signature in English on 1 1/2" x 3" card, along with an unsigned typed document, 19pp. 4to., "An Address to be Delivered at the Academy of Political & Social Science, Philadelphia, January 29, 1916", almost certainly written by Koo. Some items bear mounting remnants or identifying inscriptions in pencil on the verso, else very good. Seventeen pieces.
