Description:

Excellent World War II-date tunic once belonging to an engineer within the Tenth Air Force, which controlled all USAAF combat operations in the China-Burma-India Theater from 1942 to 1943. Constructed of green wool, the tunic is closed at front by four gilt buttons bearing the Seal of the United States. Each sleeve bears embroidered corporal's rank chevrons. The cuff of the right sleeve bears an insignia denoting the wearer's specialty in Engineering, while the shoulder bears a theatre-made Tenth Air Force patch, constructed of bullion with some threads starting to come loose. The right sleeve bears a theatre-made China-Burma-India shoulder patch, also constructed of git bullion with blue and red thread. A Ruptured Duck patch has been stitched to the right breast, while the left sleeve bears four unidentified ribbon bars. A manufacturing tag within the right hip pocket indicates the tunic's manufacturing date as 'Dec. 19, 1940' and its size as '36L'. This size is also present towards the nape of the neck, bearing an ink stamp reading '36'. Fine condition.
